GMail Tasks to improve the productivity of its user

GMail team has recently added a new add-on feature, to improve the productivity of its users. They have introduced Tasks through GMail Labs, which would let you add a new Tasks window. GMail Tasks can be used to keep track of things that need to get done. The Tasks can be directly added from a email by selecting More Actions -> Add to Tasks, after enabling the Task feature.

You can also directly add new tasks need to be done by just clicking in the new line of floating Task window. You can also add the deadline date and a note on the task.  In order to use  Task feature you need to go to Settings and select the Labs tab and enable Tasks. You can use the <shift> + t, key board shortcut (if you enable it already).

In recent years if you look at the GMail labs activities, it will become evident that Google is pushing more features in the new version of GMail. Now you can add any Google gadgets to your GMail. Recently Google integrated its Calendar gadget, Docs and Spread sheet gadgets with GMail, which has already hosting its IM chats.

Then, what does GMail lack to become a primary version of Web OS, I guess it need to have a File Manager Gadget,  a window manager gadget and a facility to minimize GMail mail section, incorporating an audio player and of course our YouTube. Lets hope that this would be realized soon.

Add Mark as read button in your GMail Inbox

Google team believes in iterating their products with new features by keeping it  in beta for long time. Similarly strategy is played in GMail also with the introduction of GMail labs. GMail team is doing a great job by adding new features which not available in other mail service providers. They have gathered this feature proactively with respect to new market trends and also with the feedbacks of GMail users. There are lot of features getting added in GMail labs, and most of them are worth trying.

One thing I liked very much is adding "Mark as read" button in the GMail inbox. some other features are moving GMail chat to right side of your  GMail inbox, setting start and end dates for vacation responses in GMail, adding colorful superstars, adding your pics in GMail chat, a snake game etc.

If you are still new to GMail Labs, then login to your GMail and go to settings page and select the Labs tab to enable the GMail labs features. And do not forget to save changes.
