Google Profiles: First step in easily searching people in this world

Google has recently added new profile section to the Google account. The Google profiles can be used to describe yourself, your personal details like contact email id, phone numbers, your address and  even the keywords that describe you or your profession, your area and your interest.

The Google profile will also show up your profile information in the Google search, if a relevant search has been made requesting the details matching your profile content. You can also configure whether your profile need to be listed in the search results.

One way this will ease the people searching paradigm, and other way it will keep the users privacy will be available to other users with few keyboard strokes.

Add watermark in MS Word 2003 and 2007

After finishing the documents, before handing it over to other people, it is necessary to apply watermark to show the status or the confidentiality of the printed document (or even pdf document). Microsoft Word provides a very easy interface to add watermarks in the word documents.

In MS Word 2003, you have to select the "Format" menu, then select the Background menu-item and then select "Printed Watermark" to add watermark in the document.

In MS Word 2007, you need to select the ""Page Layout" tab and then select the "Watermark" item in the ribbon.

Permanently Delete Facebook Profile without violating terms of service

Facebook is one of the famous social networking site in the world. Facebook has enhanced lot of its feature by allowing user made applications to play around Facebook. I have came to know about so many people feeling that they are spending more time in Facebook, and slowly getting addicted to Facebook. In order to put an end to this addition, most of them would prefer to delete their Facebook profile.

Deleting Facebook profile is not so easy as you think, its a long process. If you go to the settings page you will get an option only to deactivate your account. The deactivation will disable your profile being viewed by others till you re-login to your Facebook account. Once you login, your profile will be reactivated.

One approach to block your profile permanently is by violating Facebook terms of use. Either by try to posting same text or link in people's wall and groups within short time, or by making friends request to more than two hundred people in a single stretch. And an extreme way is by putting indecent images or lewd pics in your profile and albums. But, this may not be a good way of dealing with your Facebook profile, as it would trash your impression among your friends.

The better way to delete your Facebook profile is by giving a request, to permanently delete your profile. In order to do this, you need to follow the link to make a request to permanently delete your Facebook account.

After clicking the link above, you have to confirm delete action by giving your password and solving one captcha.

Then you will get a message saying that your Facebook account will be Permanently deleted within 14 days.

But, later within this 14 days, if you wish to cancel your delete request, you can cancel the Facebook account deletion request.

Firefox 3 gaining edge over Internet Explorer

The famous web statistics provider statcounter has launched a global statistics section which highlights the global internet usage statistics on the basis of web browser, operating system, mobile web browser, mobile phones and search engines.

In light of the statistics analyzed for last 7 months statcounter global statistics team has concluded that the usage of Firefox 3 is getting steadily increased when compared with the internet explorer usage. This is a very good news for all Firefox fans as well as Mozilla foundation. Firefox is fighting hard against the IE, in spite of the strong competition from Safari, Opera and Google chrome. So those days are not so far, if Microsoft fails to keep IE users,  for Firefox to dominate the web browser share.

Make selective snapshot of your desktop items with WinSnap

Prt Scr key would be the choice of most of the PC users to take the snapshot of the items available in the current desktop. After pressing the Prt Scr key you have to open your favourite image editor like MS Paint, IrfanView, GIMP or Photoshop to copy the image from the buffer. Then you have to cut the required part of the desktop snapshot for further editing. Unfortunately the buffer can accommodate only one image snapshot at a time.

Other way-out for selectively getting the snapshot of desktop windows, objects or desktop area is to use WinSnap. Troubleshoot and Install Audio Drivers and Older Versions of Softwares in Windows 7

Microsoft's latest operating system Windows 7, is rocking compared to its all other OS siblings, even being in beta. The performance, boot time improvements, graphics, less memory usage, better system and network administration facilities, grouping of recently used files based on applications are few of its widely welcomed features. Another important feature I liked is the facility to install an older version of software or drivers with Compatibility mode.

This "Troubleshoot compatibility" mode installation was very useful to me when I first installed the Windows 7 beta after downloading freely from microsoft.com. My motherboard has HD Audio from Realtek, but unfortunately Windows 7 did not detect the sound devices. I have tried installing the devices the vista device drivers, but the sound became weird after each trials.

Later I found out that there is an option with Windows 7 to install the driver softwares, using Troubleshoot compatibility mode. To install your old versions of softwares or drivers which were working well with older versions of Windows, like Vista, XP, 2000 or 98, you need to right click on the setup or installer and choose the "Troubleshoot compatibility" option. Then you will get a Wizard for Program Compatibility.

 

After choosing a required option from the lists of problems or  choosing "I don't see my problem listed" from the Program Compatibility wizard will get you a wizard window for choosing the Windows Operating system within in which the application or driver software was working correctly.

Choose the corresponding operating system from the list and then click next and proceed further to finish the wizard pages. No you can carry out the installation of the software or driver as it was working in your chosen older windows operating system.

In order to install Realtek HD Audio drivers on my Windows 7 I have downloaded the latest driver from Realtek download link and installed sound drivers in Program compatibility mode using troubleshoot compatibility option. The audio worked fine and the sound clarity was superb.

Using the same Program Compatibilty mode, I could successfully install Skype, Nokia PC Suite and many other older software on my Windows 7.

Just follow the above steps in troubleshoot compatibility option, if you face any problem with older software installation or audio/sound driver or any other device driver installation in Windows 7.

Better ways to destroy your Hard Disk Drive and Data in 1 Minute

With the Advancement in data recovery softwares and tools, it is very easy to recover deleted or lost data from our hard disk drives. Some of the data recovery tools are even free for personal usage. These facilities opens another door of difficulty, while dumping the old hard disk and and pen drives. Using data recovery tools one can get all the old erased data from obsolete hard disk drives.

Expand combined taskbar buttons in windows 7 as in Vista and XP

I have installed the Window 7 beta from Microsoft and started dating with the new Windows buddy. Its pretty cool and performing well compared to other Windows versions. In Windows 7, by default if you minimize the multiple applications windows, it will get combined with one taskbar button corresponding to the type of the application window.

But in Windows Vista and XP, when application windows are minimized it will get combined only when the taskbar is full. You can do the same on Windows 7 also, for more convenience. You need to right click on the taskbar and click "Properties", and select the "Taskbar" tab. Select the drop down menu corresponding to the Taskbar buttons and choose "Combine when taskbar is full". Press OK to apply the changes.
