Add or remove a website from Google search results

Google provides few options in search query to add or remove search results from a specific website.

This features will become very prominent when you want to search some topic which is available in a particular website. In order to do this you can specify the "site:" option and website url you are interested in, after the search query.

C++ programming site:microsoft.com

Or, if you would like to avoid pages from specific website in your search result, you can use "-site:" option and the website url you are not interested in, after the search query.

C++ programming -site:microsoft.com

If you want to search any specific presentation slides in PDF, PPT or PPTX format, you can use some Google hacks!.

You can specify filtering option in Google so that search results will contain only areas or sections you are interested in.

For example, if you would like to search presentations on "C++ programming" then you can tell Google  to show only results with presentation slides by specifying filetype option

C++ programming filetype:PDF

similary for ppts,

C++ programming filetype:PPT

C++ programming filetype:PPTX

or If you need to search only documents related to C++ programming,

C++ programming filetype:DOC

C++ programming filetype:DOCX

Google Search Improvements Timeline-Parameters to get top listed

Google search has evolved in multi-dimensions since its inception. There are many parameters that decide the priority of contents that appear in Google search results.

Now, its not just page rank, or just back links (of course they are among the group of parameters) governs the popularity and visibility of your articles, videos and images in the Google search results. We could understand from search result patterns that, Google is also emphasizing on the social popularity of the  contents.

You can very well see that the articles shared or commented by you in Google plus, will appear on top in your related search results while you are logged in to your Google account.

Google also started indexing, iframe contents. In a way this will help your social comments get indexed by Google. So, even the comments made through the Facebook social plugin would also get counted.

In a nutshell we can see that the Google has very much evolved from mere text search to a social and semantic realms.
