Advertisement for Firefox 3 in Live search result

While was trying some search keywords related to Firefox 3 in Live search engine, I happened to notice a very important advertisement. It is nothing but an advertisement of Firefox 3 on top of all Live search results. I just entered "firefox 3 download" as the search key.

Even though Microsoft may be gaining some dollars through this advertisement, its like a two edged sword. Most of the live search queries are coming from Internet explorer with Live.com as default search engine. This advertisement is trying to convert the existing IE users to Firefox 3, in Pursuit of Dollars. I feel Microsoft Live search team need to learn some competitive ad filtering tips from Google team. Or does this shows, ice is melting?.

Have look at an another instance, where dell makes use of Hcl keyword for its laptop ad. Are you still using IE, then this is the time to change.

Windows SkyDrive Free Online Shareable Storage from Microsoft

Microsoft's effort in providing online shareable storage space is materialized in the form of Windows SkyDrive. It was earlier known as Windows Life Folders and renamed to Windows SkyDrive to mark its visibility across the globe.


The current version of Windows SkyDrive is with 1GB online space and a maximum upload file size of 50MB. And upto five files can be uploaded at a time. You can own your Windows SkyDrive, if you have Windows Live Id. Also Windows Live SkyDrive provides easy integration with Windows Live Spaces to allow users to add a module to their Spaces displaying their publically shared folders in Windows SkyDrive.

Google bags second position in alexa ranking by pushing msn to third

If we analyze the traffic trend in last three months, we can see that Google has bagged the second position in the Alexa ranking, by pushing MSN to third place. Yahoo is still holding its first position in Alexa ranking, without being hampered by the online cold war.
You can refer the image below, comparing the traffic ranks of MSN.com, Google.com, Yahoo.com and Live.com


If we look at the traffic trends, we can also see that Live.com is improving its ranking day by day. So, that means Microsoft is pushing Live.com more to conquer the online presence at the cost of MSN.com. If we see the reach of Yahoo.com in last three months, it is around 26.82%. And the reach of Google.com is 24.58%. Similarly for MSN.com is 22.78% and for Live.com it is 18.44%. So, once Microsoft transfers all its online services to Live.com, it would reach around 40%. That means we can expect, Live.com to be in the first position of Alexa ranking in the near future.

Google knows themself better than other image search engines

We tried searching the respective search providers name as a search query, in their on image search engines. First, we tried searching "google" in Google Image Search. And the image search results revealed that Google knows well, about what is Google. [Search Google in Google ]

Then, we tried searching "yahoo" in Yahoo Image Search. And the first image in the search result was bit embarrassing. But we got the Yahoo logo and Yahoo Messenger logo as second and third image. [Search Yahoo in Yahoo]

Then, we went with searching "microsoft" in Live Image Search. The search result gave a NICE Windows Vista wallpaper as the first image. Looks cool!!!. [ Search Microsoft in Live ].
